Facebook Helping you recollect More Related News Contents

Facebook has maintained its relevance by bringing up constant changes to its applications. The social media giant has now made key changes to view the news content displayed on its News Feed. Facebook users can now read three more related articles after clicking on news content. Moreover, any new comments on the content previously read by you may “bump” that content back up in News Feed on your wall. Facebook also said that it is trying hard to surface quality content rather than meme contents, particularly on mobile.

Facebook wrote of the new related articles feature on its blogs, “To complement people's interest in articles, we recently began looking at ways to show people additional articles similar to ones they had just read. Soon, after you click on a link to an article, you may see up to three related articles directly below the News Feed post to help you discover more content you may find interesting.” (Source: goo.gl/ftZ6NM)

Comments will now Influence Story Bumping

Introduced in August, Story Bumping is about the articles that you may not have seen because you didn’t scroll down your news feed far enough. Even the old stories might get “bumped” higher in the News Feed if they are generating enough interactivity to compel Facebook to give you a second chance of seeing them.

Facebook said that even the previously seen stories may get a bump back up in the News Feed if interesting comments are pouring in. It wrote, “While trying to show more articles people want to read, we also don't want people to miss the conversations among their friends. So we're updating bumping to highlight stories with new comments. After people read a story, they are unlikely to go back and find that story again to see what their friends were saying about it, and it wouldn't bump up in News Feed. With this update stories will occasionally resurface that have new comments from friends,”

The company further adds, “As a result, people may start seeing a few more stories returning to their feed with new comments highlighted. Our testing has shown that doing this in moderation for just a small number of stories can lead to more conversations between people and their friends on all types of content.” (Source: goo.gl/HR6lvR)

Quality Contents is Getting Preference Over Meme Contents

Facebook says in its blog post that it is striving hard to show links to the high quality contents to the mobile phone users. The key parts from the Facebook’s post are here:

“We've noticed that people enjoy seeing articles on Facebook, and so we're now paying closer attention to what makes for high quality content, and how often articles are clicked on from News Feed on mobile,” The blog further says, “Our surveys show that on average people prefer links to high quality articles about current events, their favourite sports team or shared interests, to the latest meme. Starting soon, we’ll be doing a better job of distinguishing between a high quality article on a website versus a meme photo hosted somewhere other than Facebook when people click on those stories on mobile.” (Source: goo.gl/Pcx3jg)

Facebook has taken the social communication to a higher level by introducing relevant and outstanding updates for its applications.
